How this mitigates the impacts of climate change
Eg, coastal buffer against rising sea levels, clearing weeds along rivers helps reduce the impact of floods, trapping predators and eradicating wasps protects native forests that store carbon dioxide, so too does restoring wetlands; getting rid of wilding pines reduces fire risk, et etc.
As new projects are added, more explanatory pages may be needed that go into more depth. There’s quite a bit of this in the nuts and bolts section, including biodiversity and ecosystem services. Some unfamiliar terms might be best added under ‘Explainer‘ near the end of each page.
Other examples will hopefully include things like farm foresty, restorative agriculture (soil biodiversity), and innovation such as using methane from cows to powered energy or feeding kelp to reduce cow-methane outputs.
Virtually any project that helps reduce or sequester greenhouse gasses or mitigates floods, drought, rising sea levels etc.
Resources: where can I find out more?
The idea of the website is to be an expanding resource hub. Some projects/places may be willing to share knowledge and expertise, so suppliers of products, good and services to be included here.
Explainers
Term briefly explained here.
For example, this is from the Antarctic page to explain the term ‘albedo’
